Pre-Marriage Education and Counseling

Who:       Couples Planning Marriage, Re-marriage, or any couple
                who would like to participate

When:    A 6-hour Program

Part I:  By appointment:  A two hour session with the couple
      An introduction to Marriage Relationship and Building a Strong Marriage
      Family of Origin Studies

Part II:  The Second Saturday of each month
               9:00 AM to 1:00 PM

     Contents:       (Materials: Provided in the class.)
     Assertiveness and Active Listening Skills
     Examination of Strength and Growth Areas
     "Making Marriage Work" a John Gottman presentation
     Resolving Couple Conflict

Cost:  Materials and the 6 Hour Program: Total cost $ 220.00
(Private work with couples outside of class requires 3 (2 Hr) Sessions, $95 each)

(This program meets the Georgia requirements for a discount on the marriage license. A certificate will be given at the completion of the program.  Other arrangements can be made to complete the program. Many churches help with the cost.  Call for information)

Marriage Education and Development

Chaplain Bob Griffin, M.Div.
Diplomate in Pastoral Supervision and Psychotherapy (CPSP), Certified Family Life Eduator (CFLE) by the National Counsel on Family Life, Member of the American Academy of Bereavement, Retired: U.S. Army Chaplain and Health Care Chaplain.  40 years of experience in individual, couple relationship and marriage therapy.
Every couple needs development guidance over the years of a marriage. 

The long term patterns of a marriage relationship are:  "In love", "Honeymoon", "Reality", "Discouragement", "Decisions for Commitment", and long range "Mature Love".

 It has taken a long time to come to the decision to seek help. It will take a long time to change unhealthy patterns to ones that are more satisfying for both husband and wife. There will be a combination of:

• the couple working together,
• the husband and wife in individual work, and
• workshops and programs with other couples (not therapy).
• (does not include children)

The couple needs to be ready to work on the relationship.
